What personal information we collect

We only collect information you actively give us, or that is necessary for the website to function:

  • When you use our contact form: your name, email address, and any details you include in your message (such as tour interest, dates, or group size).
  • When you subscribe to our newsletter: your email address.
  • Automatically, when you visit the site: limited technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location, and how you use the site, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies" below).

We do not collect special personal information (such as health, race, or financial data) through this website.

Why we collect it and our lawful basis

We process your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your enquiry — so we can answer your questions and arrange tours. Lawful basis: to take steps at your request before entering into a possible agreement.
  • To send you our newsletter — only if you have subscribed. Lawful basis: your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • To operate and improve the website — understanding how visitors use the site. Lawful basis: your consent (for analytics cookies) and our legitimate interest in running an effective website.

Providing your information is voluntary. If you choose not to provide it, we may be unable to respond to your enquiry or send you updates.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate, and only to the extent necessary:

  • Formspree — processes contact form submissions and delivers them to us.
  • Mailchimp — manages our newsletter list and sends our emails.
  • Cloudflare — hosts the website and delivers it securely.
  • Google Analytics — provides anonymised statistics about how the site is used.

Some of these providers are located outside South Africa, which means your information may be transferred abroad. We take reasonable steps to ensure they provide an adequate level of protection consistent with POPIA.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to help the site function and to understand how it is used. We use two kinds:

  • Essential cookies, which are necessary for the website to work. These are always active.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics), which help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are only set if you consent.

When you first visit our site, a consent banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Declining analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Enquiry correspondence is retained for 24 months; newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.

How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, or misuse. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data using appropriate measures.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request that we correct or delete your information;
  • Object to our processing of your information;
  • Withdraw consent (for example, unsubscribe from our newsletter or decline analytics cookies) at any time;
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at grant@wildskies.com.
