Cederberg Circuit
A multi-day loop through the sandstone peaks and rooibos country of the Cederberg, with quiet gravel, big skies, and camps under some of the clearest night skies in the Western Cape.

Cape Town · Cederberg · Swartberg · Cape Peninsula
Wild Skies Adventures runs small-group, guide-led cycling and hiking tours through the Cederberg, Swartberg and Cape Peninsula, led personally by qualified guides and professional adventure photographers Steph van Gelderen & Grant Clark.
Why Wild Skies
Every tour is guided personally by Steph or Grant, qualified guides and lifelong adventurers. No handed-off groups, no strangers at the front. You ride and hike with us.
We keep groups small and routes bespoke, taking you into corners of the Cederberg, Swartberg and Cape most travellers never reach.
We're professional content photographers as well as guides, so you come home with the story and the images, not just the memory.
Routes, logistics and the hard planning are handled. You show up, ride or walk, and let the wild do the rest.

Tours
Every Wild Skies tour is small-group and guided in person by Steph or Grant. Choose cycling or hiking below to see current routes, activity levels and durations.
From bespoke Peninsula rides to multi-day crossings of the Western Cape backcountry, every Wild Skies cycling tour is guided in person and matched to your ability, not the other way around.

A multi-day loop through the sandstone peaks and rooibos country of the Cederberg, with quiet gravel, big skies, and camps under some of the clearest night skies in the Western Cape.

A point-to-point crossing that strings together some of the Western Cape’s wildest backroads, from mountain pass to valley floor, for riders who want real distance underwheel.

A bespoke route around the Cape Peninsula, built around your ability and fitness, taking in coastal roads, forest climbs and mountain passes matched to what you actually want out of a day in the saddle.

Four days, three nights, sleeping under the stars. Ride the famous Swartberg Pass and the Seweweekspoort Pass, which passes beneath the Western Cape’s highest mountain.
Wild Skies hiking tours are curated and bespoke, with multi-day guided routes through the Cederberg's sandstone formations, rock-art valleys and hidden overhangs, often sleeping outdoors under open sky.

Curated and bespoke multi-day guided hiking through the Cederberg’s sandstone formations and rock-art valleys, often sleeping outdoors and in caves under the open sky.

Two hours north of Cape Town, the Groot Winterhoek wilderness is a world of red sandstone cliffs, ancient rock formations and mountain pools with no cell signal and hardly another soul. We guide you in and handle every logistic (transport, permits, the lot) so all you carry is yourself. We sleep a night in a cave beneath the stars, explore the sculpted rock formations, and swim in the cold, clear pools below a waterfall. It's remote, quiet, and about as unplugged as the Western Cape gets.
The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa – for he has so much to look forward to.

About Us
Wild Skies Adventures is founded and run by Steph van Gelderen and Grant Clark, experienced outdoor adventurers, qualified guides, and professional content photographers based in Cape Town.
Between them, Steph and Grant have spent years riding and hiking the Cederberg, Swartberg and Cape Peninsula, guiding groups professionally and shooting the outdoors for a living. Wild Skies exists because they wanted to lead those trips themselves: small groups, real routes, and a camera in hand, rather than hand travellers off to someone else.
Every Wild Skies tour is guided personally by one of the founders, so the person planning your route is the same person riding or walking beside you.

Impact
Responsible travel is at the core of what we do. Our tours are small-group and human-powered by nature, light on the land, and built to put spending back into the local communities we ride and hike through. We're also creating ways for travellers to give directly to local community organisations along our routes.
